Dehydrated Pears & Granola

PSX_20200409_075552.jpg

My ultimate dreamy trail snack! Packed with natural fruit sugars and quality fats from the nuts and coconut! A dream!

This granola is easily adjusted! Technically you could make it grain free- I however added a touch of oatmeal and loved how it helped bind the nuts together! Feel free to adjust the nuts for what you have on hand as well. Just try to keep the measurements the same to assure it will bind well together!

Recipe://

1 Cup Almonds

1 Cup Cashews

1 Cup Sprouted Sunflower Seeds

1/4 - 1/2 Cup Toasted Buckwheat Groats

1/2 Cup Organic GF Oatmeal

1 Cup Unsweetened Coconut (You can use shredded or flaked just make sure it is UNSWEETENED)

1/3 Cup + 1 Tablespoon Coconut Nectar

1/3 Cup Melted Coconut Oil

Pinch of Sea Salt

1 Tsp Cinnamon

1/4 Tsp Cardamom

Details://

If you have a food processor add your nuts (keep the seeds whole!), pulse until a nice chunky chop add to a big bowl, (If you don’t have a food processor just chop by hand!). Meanwhile, melt the coconut oil and then add the coconut nectar and spices and salt, mix well. Drizzle the coconut oil/nectar mixture over the nuts and seeds and mix well.

You will want to use the fruit leather trays from your dehydrator for this. Spread evenly and dehydrate at 115 degrees for 8 to 10 hours until crunchy!

Also, note if you do not have a dehydrator feel free to use your oven. Just set at the lowest temp your oven will go to, hopefully as low as 170 degrees and keep an eye on it to assure it does not burn, stirring every 20 minutes for 2-4 hours until crispy! You could also speed it up, preheat your oven to 300 degrees, stir every 10 minutes or so, until crispy- this might take only 30 minutes so be on your toes!

Store in airtight containers.

Enjoy with dehydrated Pears!

Dehydrated Pears!

Details://

4 Organic Red Anjou Pears

Wash and dry pears, slice to remove core and seeds. I like to slice thinly to approx 1/4 inch thick. I prefer pears a tad thicker so they are a bit more chewy than crunchy, if you are looking for a crunch slice to about 1/8 thick.

Optional Spices://

Sprinkle with- Cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg

Arrange evenly on the dehydrator trays and don’t crowd. Stack with the granola. Dehydrate at 115 degrees for 8 to 10 hours. The pears will likely need to continue on a few hours after the granola is done.

Store in an airtight container.

Enjoy!
